I’ll do my best to not only provide you with genuinely helpful tips but to also publish informative reviews that cover the Pros and Cons of many of the leading wireless headphones on the market today. Hopefully, this will give you all the information you need to make an informed decision when you go to purchase a wireless headphone for pairing with your TV.
While this site originally started out as a guide I used to keep track of everything I learned during my own personal research, over time it has transformed into a buying guide for choosing the best wireless headphones for your TV that everyone on the Internet can use. Hopefully, you’ll be able to use this guide as a checklist when you set out to buy your next set of wireless headphones.
Since there is so much variety to choose from in wireless headphones, it can become a really time-consuming affair to filter out the one which actually meets your needs. This is why I believe this buying guide will be so handy for you. However, before we jump right into the reviews, let’s quickly look into the following 6 parameters you’ll need to consider before you buy your next set of TV headphones.
1. Types of Headphones
There are various types of wireless headphones available on the market today. These models include over-the-ear, in-the-ear, behind-the-head and on-the-ear models. Basically, the wireless headphones are categorized based on their design. See which type suits you the most and select one accordingly. Some people would want an in-the-ear headphone so that they can enjoy their audio without being disturbed, whereas some other people don’t want such an engaging sound because they want to be able to respond to the other sounds around them. After all, it’s all about personal choice, so be sure to pick up a headphone type based on your own individual tastes and needs.
2. Battery Life of Headphones
Wireless headphones work with rechargeable batteries and therefore, operating time is an important consideration while buying wireless headphones for your TV. Operating time is simply the duration that the headphone is capable of retaining its charge before it has to be recharged. Generally speaking, wireless headphones retain their charge up to 10-15 hours. However, there are now several newer headphones that are coming out and these models have a very decent battery life of 20-25 hours. Which is why it is so important to check how much battery life a particular headphone has before buying it.
3. Sound Quality and Effects
This is one of the most important factors to consider while choosing a cordless headphone for your TV. If you are picking up the headphone from a local store, you have a good chance of actually listening being able to listen to the audio before making a decision to buy it or not. However, if you are buying it from online sources, then you need to make sure that you buy a headphone which has received very good reviews on Amazon (preferably one that has an average rating of 4 stars or above).
After you have determined the audio quality, you might want to decide if you need a headphone which offers bass and surround-sound support. If you do, then you should go for a high-end wireless headphone such as the RS 170 by Sennheiser which has dynamic bass and surround sound features integrated into it. You also need to determine how well the headphone can filter noise. In most cases, you definitely want one with a noise-cancelling feature.

4. Operating Range
Since wireless headphones operate based on various technologies which may include things such as radio frequency, blue tooth or infrared, they have a limitation on the range they can cover when connected to your TV. However, the distance that the headphone can cover is also based on the size of the room you use it in (whether it’s the living room, bedroom or some other room you like to use the headphone with TV). If you have a small to medium sized living room, then a headphone with support for 150 feet range would easily fit your needs. Unfortunately, if you want to cover a larger room, then you are going to need a headphone that has a greater wireless range. Don’t worry, though. There are several high-end wireless headphones on the market today that have more than a 300-foot wireless range. For example, the Sennheiser RS 170 is one such model.
5. Docking Station / Charging Station
Since recharging your headphones is usually done on a daily basis, be sure that you look for a set of headphones which has docking/charging station support.
6. Price
Price is an important factor which could make or break the deal when it comes to buying a wireless headphone. While high-quality products are nice, if they also come equipped with a much higher price, then that is not something I would recommend buying. It also depends on what you need. If you don’t need a set of headphones with an extended range or extra features, then it really doesn’t make sense shelling out $200 for a high-end headphone. After all, you can always find good quality wireless headphones under $100.
However, if you do need a set of headphones which has a lot of features and an extended range, then you may want to spend a little extra money.
